English ends up being the default exchange of language, - just like the dollar is the default currency between a lot of nations.

England use to at one time rule a good portion of the world and it is a leftover from that era. It is spoken almost everywhere.
3 :
english is important because its the main language you learn

I don't know why, considering the most common languages in the world is Chinese and Indian because they take up a considerable amount of the worlds population.

English is widely learned all over the world. In fact, the largest English speaking nation is India. English is also commonly referred to as the "Business" language, and many countries use it to discuss business terms (The Philippines' national language is tagalog, but they use english in courthouses and the like). English is quickly becoming the Universal language, and while some people claim Chinese is the largest language, Chinese is seperated into hundreds of different dialects all indistinguishable from each other. In effect, people who live on city away from each other in china, who both speak chinese, cant understand each other. English is not like that. It doesn't matter where you learn your english, you can expect to understand even the thickest accents to 75% accuracy.

Because we talk almost everywhere and is the simplest. I am Italian and I live in Italy and I must say that compared to Italian, there is an abyss. The fact is that the British make more effort to learn our language because it is complicated .... but I know

Because English is considered to be a 'lingua franca' (world language). It is the third most spoken language in the world after Chinese and Arabic with over 350 million native speakers around the world. It is the most studied second language and the main language of international institutions such as the EU, UN and NATO. Many educational institutions also use English to teach their students rather than relying on their native languages. Books, magazines and newspapers in English are available in most countries around the world. These are just some of the reasons why English is such an important language in today's world.
