would you read this book? i am going to write it

would you read this book? i am going to write it?
it's tentatively called Life and Other Punishments. it's about a girl named isa. isa was left on the stoop of a siberian orphange when she was a week old. she was discovered by orphanage worker aisha, who was from india. aisha discovered that isa was missing her pinky finger, and was also really small due to isa's mother's smoking habit. everyone agrees isa will not get adopted, and so aisha names the baby isa after her desceased mother. isa moves to a foster home, and when she is 11 aisha is killed. isa becomes so depressed that her foster parents cant handle it and isa is sent to another foster home in the far north of siberia. these foster parents are already fostering a girl called bao who is isa's age. bao is chinese and has a terrid life. the girls become fast friends. when they are 15, a bomb is dropped on their hometown and their foster parents are killed. the girls are sent to a temporary place to stay, in which they are sharing a room filled with orphans with nowhere to go. the girls decide to run away. they make it to a big city, and find a truck triver who can take them to magadan and has a friend who can take them to the chinese border. they get to moscow in one piece, and then go with the truck driver's friend to the border. the driver rapes isa and tells her not to tell, else she and bao will be killed. isa doesn't tell, but when she and bao are in china she discovers she is pregnant. now, isa is 15, pregnant by rape, in a foreign city with nowhere to go. luckily, bao can speak mandarin chinese and gets a job. isa begins to try to track down aisha's family in india. the girls do not have enough money, and when isa is 4 months pregnant they are evicted. they start to hitchike to beijing. when they get there they steal an abandoned car and plan to drive as far away as they can. they make it a few miles from the mongolian border before the car breaks down. they find themselves tranded. a group of drunk men comes along and attempts to kidnap/murder/whatever them. isa becomes frightful for her baby's life, and in that moment she truly sees how she can be a mother and how much she loves her baby. this gives her the strength to knock out one of the men. bao grabs his gun and threatens them. she ends up shooting one who tries to grab her. he is badly injured and the men drive away. a man appears on horseback, saying he is from mongolia and he is amazed at what they did. he offers to take them to his home, 20 or so miles into mongolia. the girls go with him. isa is 6 months pregnant at this point. the man's wife is a midwife and helps isa out. they beg the girls to stay with them and their family until the baby is born. isa and bao agree. bao works with the family in the farm they own, while isa works in the kitchen since she is pregnant. when isa finally goes into labor, her baby is breech and she loses a lot of blood. the midwife says she will most likely die, but when isa sees her baby, she becomes determined to live. she names the little girl aisha after aisha, and quickly heals. everyone is shocked. when aisha is 4 months old, isa meets a man from america who is teaching at the local school. she falls in love with him, and he, named markus loves her too. she tells him she is 20, even though she is barely 16. a year and a half later, he is going back to america. isa begs him to take her and the baby, she wants aisha to have a good life. he takes them, but isa has to leave bao behind. it kills her to do this. she lives with the man's mother, martha, who loves isa and aisha. the day after aisha's second birthday, isa gets a letter from mongolia saying bao has died. isa almost kills herself, but for the sake of her daughter she doesn't. more stuff happens, and the book ends with isa giving birth to her second daughter by markus (who has also died but im not sure of how). aisha, who is 10 at this point, comes over to see her baby half sister and asks what isa will name her. isa smiles and says "bao." nd i know there might be some plot holes, but it's just in the roughroughrough stage and i will work everything out. it'll be a good siezed novel, around 400-500 pages. the pinkie thing will turn up more in the actual story. it is very important, trust me. it's not supposed to be a romance. in the book i want to make it healvily imply that isa is faking her love for markus and really only wants to be able to go to america. Yes, I am going to change a whole lot. I know that a ton of things aren't realistic and I seriously to not plan to even consider getting this published until I have done all my research and really made sure everything is probable. I am going to work on it.

Sounds actually like a really good story. But to answer your question: it'd have to be extremely well written and entertaining since I now know the ending.
2 :
Actually, yes I would. Just don't kill of markus and you'll be alright.
3 :
yes its a good start i would read it
4 :
it sounds really good and i'll be looking forward to it! but the pinkie thing sorta creeps me out! i was thinking the whole time "omg the girl doesn't have one of her pinkies!" otherwise it sounds like a great story!
5 :
That's a pretty good book. Would help if you'd add a bit of detail like how markus died and if isa got married again. Maybe if markus ever found out isa wasn't really 20. Or if the man that raped isa was punished. How did Bao die?? But otherwise story is awesome!
6 :
Possibly. It sounds like a good romance, but I'm not sure if I'd read it for the plot. Pregnant women in stories just aren't my cup of tea. But it sounds okay. If you do a lot of research on pregnant women and write it really well, I'm sure I'll be a really good story. And I'd cry if you killed Markus(try Marcus, I'd be a lot easier and better), I advise you not to kill him. It just wouldn't go very well.

Ok, not to be mean or anything, but... I am being honest. =) The title already turns me off. You said that Life and Other Punishments is tentative right now, and I strongly suggest changing it. What you've got now sounds way too melodramatic - like a Gossip Girl book or something. Good lord, how much suffering are you putting these characters through?! I understand that many people, especially in the more remote parts of the world where you've got your story set, go through things that I can't even imagine, but the sheer amount of bad luck that your characters experience seems unrealistic to me. Take out some of the drama, please. How do we know that Isa's mother smoked if Isa was abandoned as a baby? That a baby is small doesn't necessarily mean that its mother had any kind of habit. I hate how you phrased this - "luckily, bao can speak mandarin chinese..." Luckily? Why didn't the characters plan this out earlier - knowing that Bao can speak Mandarin, Isa & Bao should *plan* to go to China and utilize this skill, not rely on luck. In China, when Isa & Bao steal the abandoned car... (by the way, you can't really "steal" something that's abandoned) ...if the car is abandoned, why does it work? Not many people are willing to abandon a working car. It is unrealistic that a pregnant teenager would be able to knock out a full-grown man, whether he's drunk or not. You've got tons of cop-outs in this story: the man who runs into Isa & Bao just *happens* to be married to a midwife is one that particularly bothers me. I think you've got an exciting story in your mind, but you'll really have to work on it. Definately take out some of the bad luck/suffering/drama - everything you've got crammed in the lives of Isa, Aisha, and Bao is too much like a soap opera to be believable. The ending is a bit sweet, but by that point the characters kind of deserve it. All in all - your story isn't perfect, but it's got potential. Good luck with your writing.

Nope, sounds depressing. There is no key moment that raises Isa up. Maybe she could find herself near a college or school that she goes to and becomes better educated. Therefore thinking on a higher level. Also if given up at birth the people wouldn't know Isa is small due to drugs.
9 :
I agree with everything Dani has said. You're just killing off everybody. Is this just for the drama or is there a point to everyone dying? How do they know Isa's mother was a smoker if she was abandoned? Is there actually a foster parent system in Siberia? And why are they bombing a remote Siberian town? Too many holes in the story. I know you said there are plot holes, but did you think about these? Aisha, Isa, Siberia, another Isa, India, another Aisha - this sounds like a Dr. Seuss book. After you edit, edit and edit yet again, post it back here. I am interested in seeing where you take this.

What should I do to feel 'much' better

What should I do to feel 'much' better?
I had a girl whom we love each other a lot. we lived together and we spent like 5 months together. Then an unfortunate thing happened when she had to leave last Tuesday because her English course was deported and her mum ordered her to come back to Mongolia. She left me with sweetest memories and her stuff and made me in tears in the airport. She loves me a lot. I don't think we will break up soon, but I know it will happen. What should I do to feel better about myself? Please help...

ok, just get along. you know we are all floating our lifeboats in the stream of time. Good and bad whatever occurs have to be put into the chop into the water to get boat going. Why lose we have to get ready to face opposite currents in waters. Then what will you do?
2 :
My uncle once told me this: "Just think about the good times. If they bring a smile to your face, then you're in great shape!." Personaly, If you really want to be with her, with all your heart, drop everything and go get her. You are the only one who feels that way about her. None of us do no matter what we write. I do feel that if you fail in your journey, you did it because of love. Love never fails.
3 :
get another girl..preferably one that doesnt live in Mongolia.
4 :
How much do you love her? If its that deep..follow her. If not just try to date more and find someone else to share and make good mermories with.
5 :
I AM PRETTY SURE YOU HAVE HER CONTACT INFO SO KEEP IN TOUCH ONLY TIME COULD TELL WHAT WILL HAPPEN BETWEEN YOU TWO THINK POSITIVE AND POSITIVE WILL HAPPEN AS FAR AS FEELING BETTER THINK ABOUT ALL THE GOOD THINGS YOU AND HER DID TOGETHER ESPECIALLY ON HOW YOU GUYS FIRST MET AND LETS SAY DOWN THE LINE GOD FORBID YOU TWO HAPPEN TO GO YOUR SEPARATE WAYS THINK OF THIS AS A LIFE LEARNED EXPERIENCE SO CHEER UP
6 :
Don't you know that love is ambiguous? The heart has a way of deceiving you and your own thoughts can betray you. No one human being can ever know how or what the heart thinks. Five months is not a long time to know for sure whether you love someone. It's the idea that you may have loved her that your struggling to get over. Exercise, read self-help books, talk to people and share your concerns with others, opening up your problem with others is a healthy way to let go of your pains, date other women.

Tell me a folk tale from your country

Tell me a folk tale from your country?
Mongolia: Erkhii mergen or why the marmot doesn't have a thumb Once upon a time there were seven suns up in the sky and a terrible draught made the soil redden and crack. The rivers dried up, the plants and the trees withered. The people suffered from the heat and the animals were dying. All this seemed to be inevitable. But in one region there lived an handsome archer called Erkhii mergen who shot at what he saw and hit what he had shot at. Many people and animals came to him and begged him: "Please shoot the seven suns in the sky and destroy them." The archer Erkhii mergen was very conceited about his accuracy as an archer and thought himself a brave, strong and proud man. So he took an oath: "If I can't shoot the seven suns with seven arrows, I will cut off my thumbs and no longer be a man. I will no longer drink clear water, eat the dry grass from the last year and continue my life as a marmot living in a dark hole beneath the earth." From the east he shot at the seven suns moving high up in the sky one after another from the east to the west. After he had shot the sixth sun, he aimed carefully at the seventh. But just then a swallow came flying along and concealed the sun. When the arrow got released from Erkhii mergen's bow, it didn't hit the sun but the swallow's tail. That's why the swallow has a forked tail. The last sun was afraid of Erkhii mergen and hurried to hide behind the mountains in the west. Erkhii mergen thought: "The swallow obstructed my view." And so he took his piebald horse and set out to chase the swallow and kill it. His horse swore: "I will chase the swallow from dusk to dusk. If I haven't caught up with the swallow by then, cut off my forelegs and throw them away. Then I will be no longer a horse but live in an uneven and rough place." But no matter how fast the horse ran, the swallow was always just out of reach and boldly flew around their heads. Finally dusk came upon them and the horse hadn't been able to catch up with the swallow. Erkhii mergen got very angry and cut off the two forelegs of his piebald horse. Since then it lives in an uneven and rough place and has become a Mongolian jumping mouse whose frontlegs are short, too. It is told, that the swallow is still mocking riders crying: "Catch me if you can!" when at dusk she is flying in circles around the rider's heads. The proud Erkhii mergen stayed true to his own word and cut off his thumbs. He didn't live as man anymore but become a marmot. He didn't drink pure water anymore, ate the dry grass from the previous year and lived in a hole beneath the earth. Since then, it is told, the marmot has only four fingers at each paw. And early each morning Erkhii mergen forgets that he has become a marmot: he comes out of his hole and waits for the sun to rise wanting to shoot this last sun from the sky. And there is one more thing: There is a piece of meat in a marmot called "man's meat" which no human is allowed to eat because the Mongolian people believe that it is Erkhii mergen's flesh. Tthe only sun remaining in the sky is still afraid of Erkhii mergen and hides behind the mountains in the west. That's why there are day and night.

I dont get it....road beggars

I dont get it....road beggars?
Im not a mean person, ofcourse I give pity to those who unfortunatly happen to walk in between traffic and keep begging car goers for money, I live in Toronto, Canada, and I see these individuals alot when Im on the bus or in the car etc, as much as i give pity, I also dont pity them, for gods sake I see grown guys who seem perfectly fit to atleast carry a part time job of carrying boxes or such and EARn money, and yet they beg, I say this becuase this is a society with so much oppurtunity, look at other countries, such as India or Mongolia, there you will find many many people lying in the street doing nothing but beg, now that I will pity, for theres really nothing for them, I would even give them all i got in my pocket eventhough knowing it wouldnt make a greater good anyway, anyways back to here, why do these people who are ABLE to do a job still beg? why cant they just step up and get a job? even if its the most mundane job, atleast they will earn some money right? some of u have mentioned these beggers, some of them atleast are simple scammers who get extra money for acting out as a peice of crap, this is sickening, now I dont know if I should pity at all, although perhaps, or inded there are MANy who just are hopeless.

I agree

Well, because sometimes they make $30,000 plus a year. I'm sure there are people who are truly in need, but sometimes they're scammers who make more money that way.
3 :
well said
4 :
Believe it or not some of the scumbags that stand on a corner or intersection with a sign make 300-400 a day for being a piece of crap. When people stop feeling sorry for them and stop giving them money they will be forced to get a real job.
5 :
AMEN preach it brother there are SOOOOO many oppurtunites and there are people who actually choose to beg( some have mental problems and wont let their family help)
6 :
Well, I think maybe because they don't think that they can find a job or think that they are able to find one, or they don't know how to find one or something... Because if they do, they wouldn't be begging... Obviously they don't.
7 :
Let me tell you a story. Everyday I went to work there was this man on the highway with the ususal sign "Will work for food" and when I left work he was still there. (approx 8 - 9 hrs a day). People would stop and give money. One day I was late getting out of work and what did I see? This man walking around the corner and getting into his new car and driving off. Need I say more?
8 :
It's everywhere. I get that a lot where I'm from. Especially when you see a perfectly healthy woman standing begging for money than a few days later you see that person at the store buying makeup and dressed nice. I think that is terrible! Peddling off people That's embarrassing!
