Do I have Amblyopia and what kind of Amblyopia?
Symptoms: At age of 15 I went to an eye doctor, currently 22, and was diagnosed that my two eyes have different vision. Right eye +/- 0 normal and the left eye with +9 and 40% to 60% not working (dont remember exactly but something around that). So basically I see and use only my right healthy eye and was told there are no surgical help or anything for my left eye (I live in Mongolia, and I believe the doctor didnt know anything about amblyopia or how to treat it). Now, I notice a lot more that I only use my right eye, for example I cant watch/see 3d images. My right healthy eye vision is getting worse each year its currently +1 and I wear glasses, for the left I wear same +1 since there is no difference for wearing anything for it. I see clearly with my right eye, I can drive, read, and etc. but my left eyes vision is all a heavy blur and it sems like there is a big difference in contrast between the two eyes, the bad ones vision is much darker than the healthy one, I cant even read the biggest letters on the 20/20 test. So my question is: is it an amblyopia and what kind of an amblyopia? (as i seen there are multiple types) does it have a treatment for adults? will I ever be able to see a 3d image? (its stressful that 3d movies are becoming more and more available and I cant see it) Please help me, I cant get a good doctor in my area. If I can at-least diagnose myself I can start on looking for doctors abroad.

Yes you have what is called refractive amblyopia. It is only treatable if caught at an early age up until about 8 years old. Your left eye did not develop normal vision since the +9 prescription made the images so blurry that your eye never sent your brain a clear image so your brain learned to ignore visual imput from that eye. This is why people refer to it sometimes as "Lazy". Refreactive surgery won't help for your eye since it cannot be corrected with glasses. Unfortuneately you will never be able to see 3D. Depth perception and 3D requires the use of both eyes. I have a very mild difference in my glasses prescription between my 2 eyes, and I cannot see 3D either. Sorry.
