1. Why would mountain ranges and plateaus make sea trade more popular than overland trade? It is much more difficult to travel over mountainous areas than to sail around the southern part of Asia. 3. What countries are located on the peninsula northeast of China? South Korea and North Korea 4. How large is China compared with other countries in Asia? It is the largest country in Asia (with the exception of the Asian part of Russia) in terms of both area and population. 5. What two geographical reasons why governing a united China might be difficult. Mountains and Deserts. 6. Give on reason why people living in Mongolia might have often attacked China? China is a much richer country agriculturally and resource wise.

4. How large China is: The North Asia, loosely called Siberia that is part of 'Russia' is about 1 1/2 times China (3.6 million sq.miles) which is the third largest country in the world (after Russia & Canada). Next in size in Asia is India (1.26 million sq.miles). China is three times India's size. 'Saudi Arabia' (2.2 mill. sq. miles) & 'Indonesia' (nearly 2 mill.sq.miles) follow then. In population China is the biggest in the world at 1.338 billion (est.). Second largest is India with 1.17 billion(est.). Indonesia (4th biggest; after USA) follows with 0.238 million(est.). The rest of the answers were given above (Warren S).

Visiting Mongolia. What can I expect

Visiting Mongolia. What can I expect?
I'm planning to visit Mongolia next summer and I'm really curious what I can expect to see. I'll be in the capital city volunteering at the vet clinic there, but I'll be living with a host family so I'm curious how most people live. I'm also curious what the temperature is like since I know Mongolia is a cold desert. If you could tell me anything else about Mongolia I would really appreciate it! Thanks!

Hi! Mongolia is classified as a Lower Income Country. In the capital city of Ulan Bator, amenities and infrastructure are good by world standards - and most of what you need can be found in groceries and supermarkets there. There are also sights there dating from the Soviet occupation, like buildings with exciting architectural designs. The temperature in July in Mongolia is a cool 16 Celsius, while the Gobi Desert can reach 40 Celsius (-16 Celsius in winter). Most Mongolians who live in the city live in Soviet-style apartment flats, with ample heating and space and largely filled up only by the essentials. Mongolians are hospitable people and do expect to be showered with gifts. Well, Mongolia once had the largest continuous world empire - the Mongol Empire, found by Genghis Khan. You can visit his birthplace in Beluun Doldog. Likewise, you can continue onward to visit the dinosaur archaeological findings there. http://www.welcome2mongolia.com
