Is this a good expository summary

Is this a good expository summary
This is my English expository summary is it good? Thanks in advance! Raghunandan Singh Chundawat, is a biologist from Hemis High Altitude National Park in New Delhi, India, he has observing snow leopard for more than five years, which is more than anyone has ever observed these beautiful cats. Snow leopards and common leopards are very different from each other. An example is that common leopards rely on branches and leaves for concealment while snow leopards rely on a clutter of stones. The leopard’s body is about four feet from nose to rump. The tail is so thick and mobile that it looks like the snow leopards is being followed by a python. As well used for sending signals during social encounters or to wrap itself up for the bitter cold weather. Leopards are good at hiding all they forget about is their tail. Snow leopards besides being secretive, well camouflaged, and usually solitary, are very active at night usually in the twilight hours. They live in the most feared part of India which is not only the Himalayas and Karakoram, the Plateau of Tibet and adjoining Kunlun; the Hindu Kush, Pamirs, and Tian Shan; the Alty, Zazakhstan, Russia and the Sayan chain west of Lake Bikal, but also Mongolia’s border with China. Snow Leopards are supposed to be officially protected by the 1975 Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species but they are still being hunted down for their coat, which is worth a fortune in the black market. The current population is from 4,000 to 7,000 but authorities fear that it may have dropped to 3,500. With 5 of the countries having a range of 200 or fewer snow leopards these beautiful cats will soon be gone. I got this from a national geographic magazine Im going into 9th grade and we we're supposed to read 3 articles and write and expository summary. Ill be posting the other 2 in sometime.

that is very very good, however, saying that Mr. Chundawat is the person who has observed the snow leopard the longest is not factually correct. It is just written that he is the longest observer. Its here-say.... Good job!!! Good luck.........
2 :
It's not bad, although I don't know what grade you're in or what exactly the assignment was. If I'd asked you to do a summary I would be marking you down for using so many examples; the purpose of a summary is to give the main information, not examples (Example: They live in the most feared part of India which is not only the Himalayas and Karakoram, the Plateau of Tibet and adjoining Kunlun; the Hindu Kush, Pamirs, and Tian Shan; the Alty, Zazakhstan, Russia and the Sayan chain west of Lake Bikal, but also Mongolia’s border with China). Double-check and see that all your sentences are complete (Example: As well used for sending signals during social encounters or to wrap itself up for the bitter cold weather) and that you've conjugated your verbs correctly (Example: the snow leopards is being followed) Also, have some serious comma problems. Do NOT separate the subject and verb of a sentence with a comma (Example: Raghunandan Singh Chundawat, is a biologist).
3 :
Raghunandan Singh Chundawat is a biologist from Hemis High Altitude National Park in New Delhi, India. He has been observing snow leopard for more than five years which is more than anyone has ever observed these beautiful cats. (above is edited because it was a run-on sentence. 1. No need to use that first comma after Chundwat. 2. no comma before the which because you don't have a complete sentence afterwards (subject and predicate). If a comma separates a compound sentence, it must be balanced on both sides (left and right of comma) with both sides having a sub and predicate. ~~~~~~~~~~~ The tail is so thick and mobile that it looks like the snow leopard is being followed by a python. As well, it is used for sending signals during social encounters or to wrap itself up for the bitter cold weather. 1. took off plural off snow leopard ``````````````` Leopards are good at hiding -- all they forget about is their tail. 1. this was a run on, and the above hypen solved that. `````````````````````````` With five of the countries having a range of 200 or fewer snow leopards these beautiful cats will soon be gone. 1. with smaller numbers, spell it out

Tibet Travel

Tibet Travel????
I have from July 27 (2008) to August 12 to travel anywhere I want, departing from Shanghai, China (by the way, I live in the US, and am not Chinese). I was thinking of going to Tibet. Do you have any suggestions on how I can travel there? What I mean is that I don't want to travel alone, so do you know any tour groups for young travelers? I am interested in the cultural aspect, not things like trekking. Is this a bad time to travel? (because of the Olypmics). I am very interested in Buddhist culture and would like to meet monks. Is Tibet not a good idea because China is supressing its Buddhist culture? Lastly, do you think visiting a place like Nepal or Mongolia would be better? Thanks for the help.

I think Tibet is a great place to visit, as much for cultural tourism than for its physical beauty. Mongolia and Nepal are equally interesting, in my opinion, but Tibet is more fascinating. I personally enjoy train travel even though it is longer. There are direct passenger trains now from Shanghai to Lhasa, since last summer I believe. For tour companies, many offer tours, but I heard good reports about www.dreams-travel.com in Chengdu that organizes good tours to Tibet, and can arrange everything you need, including the permit to enter Tibet. They also run a cheap but nice little hotel in Chengdu (spend a day to visit the home of the panda while you wait to get everything ready). Qinghai province is also a nice stop enroute to Tibet. I would recommend you to spend a day or two there, maybe in Xining. The new Qinghai-Tibet Railway is the highest in the world, climbing from 2,829m above sea level at Golmud (Geermu) to 3,641m at Lhasa, much of it built on permafrost. Its highest point is in the Tanggula Pass, at 16,640 feet (just over 5,000m) above sea level. If you are interested and serious about that trip, I am presently working with a delegation from Qinghai and could ask information. They are very knowledgeable about Tibet and Qinghai. They are leaving in 2 days... BTW, about the Tibet-Chinese issue, there is no point having any discussion with most Chinese about it. Most of my friends are Chinese, and this is a subject that I avoid at all cost. I have a handful of Tibetan friends. They certainly do not have the same opinion as the Chinese. I love my Chinese friends, but I have to admit that I am very partial to the cause of the Tibetan people, and I have seen it for myself, and I say this with due respect for the person below me who answered your question.

tibet is a beautiful place and no..chinese are not supressing buddhist culture...if we are then we won't actually try to construct railway links to tibet.....bad time to travel? what do you? olympics? it's a good time to travel...and it's good to see for yourself..that way...hopefully...you'll learn and understand more about the chinese-tibet issue

recommend you this site-http://www.foreignercn.com/ hope you could get a little help from there!

Get Chinese Visa and Tibet Permit before you access Tibet There are two main documents required for foreign tourists who want to travel in Tibet. Chinese Visa Firstly, please be noted that Chinese visa and Tibet permit is two things totally different. To enter Tibet, or any part of China excepting Hong Kong and Macao (Visitors to Hong Kong, holding passports from the some countries DO NOT need a visa when staying for a specified free period), a Chinese visa is necessary. It may be best to obtain it before leaving your home country unless you are taking a package tour to enter Tibet overland from Nepal. The first rule when applying for a visa as an independent traveler is to expect that you will be refused a visa if you mention plans to visit Tibet. There is a trick that when you apply for the Chinese visa, you can’t tell the officer that you have the plan for traveling to Tibet; you can only inform them you want to travel to somewhere else of China. Or else the application would become complicated and arduous. Keep in mind 1. When entering China it is best to have a visa covering the expected duration of stay. Getting extensions inside China can involve delays and other difficulties. 2. You need to apply for a double- or multiple entry visa when you need to leave and re-enter mainland China. Please note that, even when you leave for Hong Kong or Macao from mainland China, you still need to have a double- or multiple entry visas. Travel to Tibet through Nepal If you entry Tibet from Kathmandu, Nepal, you are required to obtain a Chinese visa in the consulate of P.R China in Kathmandu, the opening time for the Consulate of P.R China in Kathmandu is only available from 9:30AM-11:00AM on every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Please note this visa application is compulsory despite you have already had a Chinese visa in your country or not since this is regulated by the border treaty signed between Nepal and China. The Chinese visa you get in Kathmandu is a “group visa”. A “group visa” is not entered in travelers’ passports but is a separate sheet of paper issued in duplicate by the Chinese consulate in Katmandu, listing all members of the group. It usually allows a stay of 15 or 20 days. A “group” may be any number of travelers, and may be just one traveler. One or more travelers entering Tibet together with others may wish to have their own separate group visa so they are able to separate from the others. Obtaining a group visa requires at least two clear days in Katmandu. Tibet Permit Tibet Tourism Bureau (TTB) Permit Tibet Tourism Bureau (TTB) Permits are necessary for entry to Lhasa or any other part of the Tibetan Autonomous Region, and are obtained through tour operators as part of arrangements for travel; A T.T.B. permit does not obviate the need for an Aliens’ Travel Permit for any closed areas that may be visited. But you can get them easily from our Lhasa office. Important Issues about Tibet Travel Permit 1. All kinds of people can get Tibet permit through a travel agency except diplomats, journalists, and government officials who should travel to Tibet under the arrangement by the Foreign Affairs Office of Tibet Government. 2. After having a permit, a travel agency could buy you the air tickets, and you can pass the check-in at the airport and the check point reroute with the permit. 3.You are not allowed to bring with the TTB permit and travel to anywhere outside of Lhasa city you want because except Lhasa you need another permit named as “Aliens’ Permit”. 4. Generally it needs three days to get the Tibet permit if you could supply the full necessary documents. Aliens’ Travel Permits (PSB’s) These are required to visit closed areas - much of the Tibetan Autonomous Region outside the Lhasa prefecture-level district, and scattered counties elsewhere. They are usually only obtainable through tour operators, for tours by four-wheel-drive car. Permits to visit places that are not declared open are known as Aliens’ Travel Permits, or PSB’s. They are issued by the police (Public Security Bureau, “PSB”). A single permit is normally issued to all the people who are traveling together, the permit naming just one of them and stating how many others are accompanying him; the passports, or at least photocopies of passports and visas, of all persons traveling must be presented in order to obtain a permit. If you want to do an overland tour from Yunnan, Sichuan, Qinghai or Xinjiang province to Tibet, you must got the PSB permit before your tour starts. Notice: 1. Generally it takes three days to get the Tibet permit if you could supply the full necessary documents. After having a permit, a travel agency could buy you the air tickets, and you can pass the check-in at the airport. 2. The following details of the travelers are required for Permit: name, nationality, passport number, sex, date of birth and occupation. 3.if you do not book any tour(Like Land cruiser with driver ,guide ) from us, we can not help you get the permits. No travel agency can provide “permit-only” service. 4.Only the guide could hold the permit after you in Tibet. You are not allowed to bring with it and travel to anywhere you want because except Lhasa you need another permit named as “Aliens¡¯ Permit”. Otherwise if you are stopped by the police you will be sent out of Tibet or have trouble politically and economically. Furthermore, the travel agency which helped to get you the permit will also be in trouble. 5.When you apply for China visa, please do not mention Tibet. After you get China visa you can easily get Tibet permit. Otherwise you have to wait for Tibet permit and then you can get China visa. Of course you will face the risk of that you might be refused to come to Tibet even if you get China visa but your destination is Tibet.

Which book is it that include Dracula except Bram Stoker's

Which book is it that include Dracula except Bram Stoker's?
Hey everyone, I have a big trouble finding a book: Basically, I know the title of the book in Mongolian (well I come from Mongolia), and its translated into English as "the devil" or most likely "the vampire". The problem is that I only have the middle section of the book, and no beginning or ending... :( What happens in the middle part: Mr. Harry, who is related to a Duke Dracula, visits Romania in order to accept the properties which he was supposed to inherit. He then goes to a librarian named Carl Ivanovich and tells him to gather any information that relates to him and Duke Dracula in order to prove that he is the inheritor of the properties. The librarian finds various of diaries and a letter, which a person named 'D' wrote to a friend called Alph and talks about his beloved woman Rita and his strange childhood memories. Furthermore, how his mother died for a an unknown reason and why his father tells him to not return home anymore. One of the diaries were written by a teacher, who used to live in the village and had madly fallen in love with a woman, which then resulted him to go crazy. The other diary was written by Rita. Its her memory about the first day she has visited her lover 'D''s castle and how a mysterious old man with bloody eyes kept warning her to stay away from D. The characters involved in this section are: Mr. Harry, Dr. Wise, Captain Ride, James, Carl Ivanovich, Rita, Pietro, the unknown Mr.D PS: this book was translated from Russian to Mongolian, so I am not sure whether character names are going to be accurate. Please anyone know what book it is? I really want to know :( Thank you!
