Why do most Northern Asians have broad face and upward-slanting eyes

Why do most Northern Asians have broad face and upward-slanting eyes?
I'm Central Chinese and I have a narrow slender face and downward-slanting eyes. Why do most Northern Asians have a broad face and upward-slanting eyes? Is it due to living in really cold climates like Mongolia and Siberia?

It comes from the nomadic 'indian' tribes of siberia. They travelled south and blended with other cultures....and they also moved east. Northern asians have more of the native characteristics than their southern counterparts. Native Americans would also be distant relatives...
